First Machining In June, ZOPS machined its first four ZKM-forged aerospace parts.
Ultrasonic Testing Early in 2011, the ZOPS's team of Level II inspectors will increase through the addition of two more technicians who are currently half way through their training.
Customer Approval Also, ZOPS's ultrasonic inspection department is now fully approved by Ladish and is anticipating Rolls-Royce approval early in the 3rd quarter.
Berlin Airshow ZKM Forging representatives attended the Berlin Airshow earlier this month to support the operation's commitment to expanding sales in Europe.

Presidents Award Out of more than 300 candidates for the Goodrich Presidents Award, ZKM Forging was one of only five suppliers recognized for exceptional service.
Capacity Expansion With the order of a new Magnetic Particle Inspection unit and the commencement of training for more operators, ZKM Forging has begun increasing its MPI capacity for aerospace components.
Customer Development Robert D. Troyer has joined ZKM Forging as Manager, New Business & Customer Development. Bob, who will be based in Cudahy, Wisconsin, will assist the Polish forging operation with expanding its customer base.

Nadcap MetLab ZKM Forging has completed the Nadcap certification process for Metallurgical Testing, securing an 18-month period of certification.
AS9100 Accreditation Last month Bureau Veritas concluded its AS9100 accreditation audit of our ZOPS machining and special processes operation. ZOPS will receive its formal certification documents before the end of this month.
Ultrasonic Testing ZOPS has completed the installation of new ultrasonic testing equipment. The test facility is now ready for customer approvals.

Attaining Milestones ZKM Forging has met its goal of achieving participation on significant aerospace programs. We are now forging components for Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier aircraft, to name only a few.

Shipping Aero Parts In the 4th quarter of 2009, ZKM will ship forged aerospace components to six different customers.

Ultrasonic Inspection Two ZOPS inspectors have completed ultrasonic NDT training in the United Kingdom and earned Level 1 certifications.
New Orders ZKM Forging has received orders for a sliding tube and a turning tube from Messier-Dowty for the A320.
Shipped Aero Parts Last month ZKM shipped three business-jet braking-system parts for customer Meggitt.

Boeing Approvals Upon completion of first-article inspections, ZKM Forging received Boeing approvals regarding the production of three landing-gear components that are part of a 20-part Goodrich LTA.
Dash 8 Shipment ZKM shipped its first landing-gear parts for the Bombardier Dash 8. These components are part of the same Goodrich LTA.
Meggitt Order in Production Pipeline We have begun forging three braking-system components for customer Meggitt. The parts, destined for service on a business jet, are scheduled for May 2009 delivery.

10-Ton Hammer ZKM Forging will this month complete the installation of its second 10-ton hammer, which was selected to accommodate a wide range of aerospace components.
Heat Treat Certification The Polish operation has just completed its Nadcap certification for Heat Treat. The certification will cover the next 12 months of operation.
MPI Certification ZKM has also finished the annual Nadcap audit for Magnetic Particle Inspection, certifying the next 12 months of MPI activity.
New Manager Aerospace Projects ZKM Forging has appointed Wiesław Stasiak to be Manager, Aerospace Projects. He will be responsable for aerospace sales and raw material purchasing.
Pergolski Supports N. American Sales In addition to his current responsibilities as Ladish Forging's International Sales Manager, Rodney Pergolski will support ZKM Forging sales in North America.

7 Aerospace Customers ZKM Forging is now producing parts, manufacturing new dies and processing purchase orders to serve seven different customers in 3 different regions.
Orders for Boeing Parts We are now designing processes for parts that will go into a popular Boeing aircraft.
Orders for a Canadian Airframer ZKM has just received a purchase order for under-carriage components for the Dash-8.
Orders for A319/A320 Parts We are now forging structural components destined for use on these European-manufactured aircraft.

Material Preparation ZKM Forging has developed a variety of techniques for preparing titanium alloys for the forging of aerospace components.
First Titanium Forging Run Among its research-and-development efforts, ZKM has successfully conducted a trial forging run of a titanium part that meets all aerospace traceability, metallurgical-property, and configuration requirements.
New Die-Manufacturing Machines Installed In preparation for the build up of aerospace orders that will soon enter production, ZKM has expanded its die-making capabilities.
Aerospace Capabilities Report Aviation Week & Space Technology sister publication Show News published a report on ZKM Forging's aerospace production progress in its July 14, 2008 issue, distributed at the Farnborough Air Show.

First Landing-Gear Parts ZKM Forging shipped its first aerospace parts this month, a cylinder and trailing arm, produced for a North American landing-gear manufacturer.
First Breaking-System Components We also shipped our first breaking-system parts this month, a torque tube, forged for a European aerospace wheel and brake manufacturer.
Machining Progress Report Ladish is nearing completion of its machining capability in Poland and plans to begin machining forgings early in 3Q08.

Aero Customers To Double ZKM is in the final stages of negotiation with a number of EU aerospace companies. When negotiations are completed, these new customers will double the size of our aerospace customer base.
Aero Production Begins With successful aerospace forging trials behind us, ZKM is now producing aerospace braking and landing-gear components
New Grit Blasting Machine We have completed installation of a grit-blasting machine, which has expanded our manufacturing capability to meet this aerospace requirement critical for existing customers.

Level 3 Certification We have recently installed and implemented new Magnaflux inspection capabilities with Level III Certification. Nadcap approval is pending.
New Furnace One of our furnace lines has now been completely upgraded, is fully operational, and has received aerospace approval. Nadcap approval for heat-treating is also pending.
Sales Up Ladish reported 2Q07 sales were up 26% versus year ago figures. The company projects aerospace production at ZKM to increase. (See www.ladishco.com/news.asp)
